[From Tokyo to Kyoto
After our lovely visit at Tokyo, Amy and I took the Shinkasen and headed over to Kyoto.
In my previous post about our stay in Tokyo, I forgot to mention something quite important for the people who are planning to travel to different cities in Japan, which is the the question of how many suitcase one should bring?
Before I left, I already knew that it would be a pain in the ass to travel to different cities with more than one luggage, but at the same time, it is very hard to resist to not buy cosmetic related products or souvenirs when you're in Japan. For a girl like me, who brings at least four different types of shoes when I travel, it is indeed a very difficult task to stuff everything in one big suitcase under 23kg.
I brought one big suitcase to Japan, and Amy brought a carry on and one medium suicase. My luggage was of course overweight, so I had to take things out to hand carry when I was at Osaka Airport.
This was not that big of a deal; the most painful part would be for you to carry that one, or more, big heavy suitcase(s)while you travel from city to city since not all the train station has escalator or elevator, which means.... YOU'LL HAVE TO LIFT THE SUITCASE UP AND DOWN THOSE STAIRCASES BY YOURSELF.
Be very mindful about that, and especially if you are not staying over night in the city, and you might just want to leave the luggage in the train station. If your luggage is too big, it may not fit the biggest locker that they offer (Mine almost did not fit).
So be sure to pack your esstentials! Or what you can do it bring one large suitcase and put a smaller suitcase inside, and buy everything on the last stop in Japan!
I was too excited when I got to Tokyo, so I bought most of the cosmetic products when I was there when I could have waited till Osaka to buy them.
I even bought Tokyo Banana when I was in Tokyo because I was not sure whether if they sell that at the Osaka airport(they do~~~).
Tokyo Banana is a famous dessert that people buy as souenvir in Japan. It has different flavours, and it can go somewhere from $600yen to $2000yen per box depending on the flavour and quantity.
If you want to buy this as a souvenir, try to buy it at the last day of yout trip as the expiry is about ten days and they are very heavy if you buy a few boxes.
Tokyo Banana

[First Night
I forgot how much the Shinkansen cost, but I think it was around $150cdn, and the ride was about two hours.
We stayed at an Airbnb when we were in Kyoto.
After we dropped off our luggage and freshened up, we were ready to head out for dinner. This night, we were going to this famous omurice restaurant in Kyoto!
I randomly found this omurice restaurant as I was browsing on Instagram. After I saw the short 15 seconds clip on Instagram, I decided that I must come to eat at this restaurant!!
The restaurant name is ザ・洋食屋 キチ・キチ. You can make reservation online or by phone. The link is here http://www.kichi2.net/
It is located in a small alley way in a popular shopping district, so be sure to use your best friend, Google Map, before you go. The famous Japanese department store, Kyoto Takashimaya, is also located in that popular district.
Amy and I arrived at 5:30 right when it opened and we were the first customers there.
The restaurant is very small. It has a bar that fits about six people and one or two tables on the side that fits four people.
Amy and I both ordered the famous omurice. I ordered a beer as well, and my meal was around $3200yen.
The chef does not speak English, but he is very friendly. You can tell when someone is very passionate and happy at doing what they do, and I definitely saw this quality in the chef.
I think the omurice tastes average, but it was absolutely very enjoyable and entertaining to watch the process of him making the omurice.
I provided the link of the process of him making the omurice. I would still recommend people to go try the omurice~ =) https://www.instagram.com/p/8aMbvbSfPar7v9R7OMc0hrVbRbME5UApAXz3E0/?taken-by=ellie1212
Airbnb
Amy

[Kyoto&Nara
We decided to book a tour led by a professional guide for our Kyoto adventure.
The city is filled with so much history as it was the capital for Japan for hundreds of years before Tokyo.
Our one day Kyoto and Nara tour was booked on http://www.japanican.com/en/tour/detail/N110
It was a bus tour, and pick up service was available at various hotels.
When we got to visit all these world heritage sites, I fell in love with this city that has something Tokyo does not offer.
The architecture really amazed me; I find it really hard to believe something that was built almost four hundred years ago is still in a fine condition.
Our guide was very well knowledged and has explained clearly in English at each stop that we have been to, but unfortunately, my memory is limited and I do not remember much history.
We did Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji Temple, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Nishi Hongonji in Kyoto for the morning. After lunch, we hopped back on the bus and headed towards Nara, Nara was about an hour bus ride from Kyoto.
We arrived at the famous deer park in Nara; there were A LOT of deers, lol
The famous Todaiji Temple was part of the Nara Deer Park. It is a HUGE temple!!!!
Our guide said it is the biggest Buddha temple in the world, and it was even bigger before when it first got built, but it was burned down by fire during the war time.
I absolutely love this Todaiji! Love the history, love the wooden structure, love the architecture, love the Great Buddha, loveeeee everything!
I would recommend people to stay at Kyoto for at least three days as two days is too rush! There are a lot of heritage sites I haven't had a chance to visit.

[What's Next
The next blog I'll wrap up my Kyoto trip with Osaka =)
