[From Kyoto to Osaka
Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine wraps up my trip in Kyoto.
This shrine was definitely on my bucket list. I have seen it in so many people's FB or IG pages or in dramas, so I was looking forward to visiting this shrine.
We left our luggage in the lockers at Kyoto Station. I can't remember how many hours I paid for, probably three hours or so, and it was $700yen.
We then took the subway to go to Fushimi Inari-tasiha. You don't need an admission fee to get in~
You can see a huge red archway upon our arrival. As your make your way into the shrine, you will see red more wooden archways right after one and other as if you were in a maze.
There are black words carved into these wooden archway, and they have addresses, years or names listed on these.
It is such a magical feeling to be walking in these red wooden archway.
You can rent kimonos to take pictures in the shrine. Amy and I didn't do it as we found it as such a hassle to change. If you would like to rent kimonos, make sure you make reservation online and go early first to pick out your favourite kimonos before all the good ones are taken.
There is also a hiking trail that Amy and I saw, but we did not go as we were on a tight schedule to head over to Osaka later in the afternoon.
We headed back to Kyoto station to get our luggage, and bought a train ticket for Osaka bound for $700yen. The train ride was about an hour and 20 minutes to from Kyoto to Osaka.
[Touring in Osaka
We bought a special pass at the Osaka subway station for $2550yen which includes a subway pass for a whole day and a day pass for Osaka aquarium.
We were already planning on going to the aquarium, and we saw this special pass ad randomly inside the subway station. I think it was some sort of anniversary of the aquarium.
I like the architecture of the aquarium, but I would not recomment to go inside as it was pretty boring for me lol
Nothing special to see, and there was no show either. The only highlight would be you could touch the live stingray and starfish
We took the subway for around 40 minutes from the aquarium to the famous Osaka Castle.
The castle itself is located in the middle of a plot of land with structures like gates and shrines on the castle ground; it was quite a walk to get to the castle.
The castle was smaller than what I imagined. It is about eight stories high.
There are ice cream and takoyaki food trucks around the castle. I can imagine during sakura season will be a good time to visit the castle while having sitting around the castle to enjoy the view~
Amy didn't wanna go up to the castle, so I went up alone.
You need to purchase a ticket to get in, but I can't remember how much admission ticket was, haha.
There is a long line up for elevator so I took the stairs as it was not that high.
There are exhibition of the history of Osaka Castle throughout the floors, and at the very top you can see the Osaka view.
After our visit of Osaka Castle, we went to the famous Osaka tourist destination - Dotonbori district.
It's a great place for shopping and there are a lot of restaurants in this district, and of course there is the famous Glico man lol
I really don't know what the big deal with the Glico man but since everyone was talking about it, I snapped some pictures haha
I like this busy district, and during night time, the neon lights in this district really catches people's attention, feels like Time Square in NYC.
Glico man
[Osaka Food
Hmmmm... Yes, I always include food in my posts, haha.
For Osaka, I would like to introduce the famous ramen restaurant - Ten Ti Jin~~~~~!!
We had this as dinner on our first night in Osaka, and this ramen place is very close to the Airbnb where Amy and I were staying, and it was soooooo delious, so Amy and I came back again on our last night in Osaka.
I had ramen the first time, and I had the chasuu rice on the last night. Both super yummy!! I am almost drooling as I'm typing this post as I could still feel like I remembered the taste in my mouth lol
Highly recommended~!
The store itself is quite small, fits about 15 people max. You will purchase from a ticket machine inside the store first(there are pictures on the machine), and you hand your ticket to the server, then they will bring the heaven in a bowl to you.
I had a can of Asahi and chasuu rice for $970yen. Ramen was around $1200yen from what I remember.
Last but not least, my souvenir from Japan, yay!
Will definitely visit Japan in the future =)
